We often see fitness speakers and A-list celebrities telling us to ditch those cheese and dairy. This bandwagon is even highlighted by the like of Jennifer Lopez and Jay-Z. Their fitness journey is all thanks to saying dairy goodbye.

Truth be told, cheese and milk is surely something we can’t live without. Think about pizza toppings, quesadillas, and nachos. Not to mention the casual wine and cheese combination. Letting go of the dairy would really be hard especially for those people who have been used to eating and having them. But don’t worry as there’s just the right solution for you. Get to have your cheese without the guilt. Yes, there is non-dairy cheese to enjoy.

Soy Cheese

When we think non-dairy, soy would be a perfect choice. Soy cheese now comes in varied brands and even flavors. You think soy cheese taste bland? Think again. There are already varieties that mimic the flavor of Parmesan, mozzarella, pepper jack, cheddar and more. There’s even soy cream cheese too. This would be perfect for your next guilt-free cheesecake. Plus, a sour cream soy cheese exists. Just a few hiccups though. Expect that soy cheeses will not melt like the usual cheese we are familiar with. This is because it lacks casein which is a protein that is found in milk. You might want to experiment first on how to prepare your dishes and desserts with soy cheese.

Tofu Cheese

Since we are already in the topic of soy cheese, the next thing that comes to mind would be tofu. After all, tofu is a soybean product and it is made up of soymilk curds. But you don’t have to look for tofu cheese in supermarkets. As a matter of fact, you can be able to create your own cheese. The steps are very simple. First, you just have to take the tofu and press it in order to remove water. Second, slice it and spread miso paste on each slice. Third, lay out the sliced tofu in a container and let it stay for 24 to 48 hours. Do not put the block in the freezer. Before eating, you can scrape off the paste. The rest can be refrigerated good to use for a few days. This is the perfect cheese to mix with your salad. So instead of having feta or blue cheese, use tofu cheese.

Vegan Cheese

If you are a fan of vegetables, this would be the perfect cheese for you. This is also very easy to make just like the tofu cheese recipe above. You need to cut a lot of vegetables for this. First, cut the vegetables you would want to use. Second, blend or pulse water along with sesame seeds and lemon juice. Blend until smooth. Third, add a hint of oil to the pan with nutritional yeast. Then, combine the blended mixture and the oil. You can then season this with onion, garlic, and even mustard. Leave it until desired thickness is achieved.

See you don’t have to ditch the cheese in order to become fit like your celebrity idols. You just have to know where to look and how to do it yourself. Truly, these are the cheeses you can indulge without worrying about the fat.
